A Tribe Called Quest Reunion Album Will Never Happen
For years, fans have pleaded with Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad to find it within themselves to reunite for one more go around as A Tribe Called Quest. Although their sporadic stints performing as a trio on stage have given most fans a sense of satisfaction, a new album would be ideal.
Unfortunately, it will never happen.
After the group performed at Rock The Bells in New York this past weekend, Q-Tip told Eurweb that the group will never record a new album again.
"It will never, ever happen. We don't want to be one of those groups that comes back 15 years later and puts out an album that's not that good. It's why the Beatles never got back together," he said.
Although the statement is easily understandable, the notion that Tribe will never record again is disheartening to most fans who anticipated a new album in light of their recent reunions on stage over the past few years.
'nuff respect!

Q-Tip’s Kamaal The Abstract Album To Be Released
Kamaal the Abstract is an intensely idiosyncratic and revealing record. To that end, Q-Tip produced the entire album himself, even playing several instruments. What comes from Kamaal is a daring mélange of soul, supa-cool jazz, headnodding hip-hop, and organic pop magic in the vein of Stevie Wonder or Prince. Check for the superlative figures of saxophonist Kenny Garrett, a one-time member of Miles Davis’ ensemble, on the breathy “Abstractionisms.” Or the fluid flute lines of Gary Thomas, another Davis sideman, on “Do U Dig U.” Elsewhere, note Tip’s ambitious production, arrangements, and even sung stylings.
But make no mistake: Kamaal the Abstract still boasts all the earmarks of Q-Tip’s inimitable mic control. Listen to him blaze through a spiced narrative on “Even If It Is So.” Or paint vivid images on “Blue Girl.” The album has been re-mixed and re-mastered for sonic impact, though it retains the original album artwork. Neil Levine SVP/GM of Battery Records is proud to release this buried treasure from Q-Tip: “Kamaal the Abstract/Q-Tip is a true visionary and ahead of his time. These songs sound more contemporary now than when they were first recorded”. Kamaal the Abstract drops September 15th. Better late than never.

Asking for Method Man's Autograph? That's a Shooting
By Chris Vogel in Courts, CrimeTuesday, Aug. 4 2009 @ 1:01PM
When Mary Anderson of Fort Bend County allegedly asked rapper Method Man for an autograph after a show last November at Houston's House of Blues, she claims she got a different kind of signature: A wound in the stomach from a pellet gun.
Anderson is suing Method Man, more formally known as Clifford Smith, in Harris County District Court for allegedly shooting at her six times with a pellet gun. According to the lawsuit, Anderson attended a rap concert where Method Man and Redman were performing.
Afterward, Anderson joined a group of fans outside, where Method Man was signing autographs out of the back window of a bus. When Anderson handed Method Man her ticket stub for him to sign, Method Man suddenly pulled out a pellet gun and began firing, hitting Anderson in the torso, according to the lawsuit.
Anderson's attorney, Daniel Horowitz, tells Hair Balls that Anderson suffered permanent scarring on her chest, stomach and breast area.
"You can't just go around the country shooting people like that," says Horowitz, "and then leave town and not think anything's going to happen."
Anderson claims she had to seek medical treatment for the wounds and is suing for assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Horowitz says Method Man has not yet been served.
