ABOUT
DONNY
[BARCODE | FUTURE SICKNESS | MINDRUSH / U.K]
Donny, the amen master started making music to kill time and have a laugh. Originally drumming for his friends band, Donny's links have always been strong with the driving force of music, the beats. An investment in studio-equipment and a dedication to sound design, mix down and arrangement got things moving, and September 2005 saw the birth of his first 12" record; "Medievil Beating / Hide & Seek" on the new managed Mindrush Recordings imprint.
Not content with sitting in his studio cutting up, twisting and distorting any given noise coming out of his speakers, Donny has begun showcasing his skills as a DJ. Ties with the Freak Recordings family has led to him DJing at the infamous Therapy Sessions in London, as well as gigs on the south-coast of England and Pirate radio appearances on Rude FM as he sets about promoting the Mindrush Recordings label he has begun A&R'ing for alongside the current management.

SPOOKANE
[ Future Sickness Records/ BE ]
Spookane’s, love for music started off with an initiation into the hardcore scene, feeling especially moved by the more dusky sound of Darkcore. The harsh industrial sounds drew him in but he soon tired of the four to the floor beats and started mixing Hip-hop. Structurally compelling though he found it, he longed for the speed and darkness that he had found in Darkcore, before finally discovering Drum and Bass. He fell in love with it, as it combined break beats with up-tempo electronic music, and submerged himself in the genre completely. Soon enough he’d gotten hold of some Darkstep and realized that this had been the reason for his musical quest. Tunes by prolific producers such as Current Value and Counterstrike inspired him to form a collective of like-minded artists, joining forces to develop and disperse the sound. This paved the way for the birth of his brainchild, Future Sickness records. RDS and Zubcore work with him in managing the label as well as organizing events and filling a weekly slot on leetradio and dnbtv (each first and 3rd thursday of the month), to promote their work. Spookane’s dedication and technical proficiency, which stems from his qualification as a sound engineer, soon turned some heads within local and global scenes. Veterans and young talent from around the globe were signed to the imprint, and the future holds only superlatives for this foursome. The kick off for the World label tour is due in January 2007. Starting off in Italy, they will be playing sets around the continent, briefly setting foot in places such as Austria, France, Germany, Nieuw Zealand, Australia, to name but a few. Our story began ominously on 06/06/06, when three kindred spirits joined forces to bring the music they live and breathe to the masses.
Spookane (Belgium), The Dead Kat (France) and Zubcore (Austria), share a love for Darkstep which naturally evolved from their Hardcore roots. They got together to form Future Sickness Records, providing a platform for high-end DNB productions regardless of fame or fortune. Their mission: to infect the globe with the darkest of sounds and to enrich the Drum and Bass landscape with fresh tunes by new as well as established talent.
Signings from around the world ensure a varied take on the in house style, with artists representing three continents. These include Counterstrike, a South African duo that has been taking the world by storm for over a decade; US based Mumblz, Empire-x, and the Cenobites collective; as well Current Value from Germany. Future releases by Donny, Axis & Trank, Panacea, Raiden and others are in the pipeline and are expected to hit the streets later on this year.
Taking the evolution of the industry into account, the digital side to their collective is being developed heavily. Next to the MP3 section of the label they also have a weekly slot on on sunday on www.leetradio.com hosted by The Dead Kat alongside Spookane & NDM with some guests from all around the globe, and on www.dnbtv.com the 1rst and 3rd thursday of the month from 19:00 till 21:00 (GMT) . For a live dose, you can also check forthcoming gigs in the events section of the Website.
