STRAIGHT FROM THE HOWIE'S MOUTH

This is a cut and paste job from Uncle Howie's website. Lot's going on at the label. Big up DJ Eclipse...-Pizzo

"It's official!!! Uncle Howie Records has partnered up with new label Perfect Game Recording Co. to bring you the next ILL BILL solo album, "The Hour Of Reprisal". The 60 minute album will be accompanied by a 60 minute DVD featuring live solo performances, interviews and behind the scenes footage. Perfect Game has secured distribution through Warner Music Group so there will be a lot of people involved in promoting this! We're very excited about this deal and our new relationship with Perfect Game. As the album nears completion we will let you in on who some of the guest features are on the project. The album is scheduled to come out July 18, 2006. BILL is also recording with the rest of La Coka Nostra, a federation of terror made up of House of Pain, Non Phixion, Slaine, Lordz of Brooklyn, Big Left and a few more, for an album that will come out in 2007. The ILL BILL "Is The Future" Mix CD is back out. We decided to put it back out as it was originally released and save some of the footage that was going to go on the bonus DVD for BILL's solo album DVD.

Since Sabac has moved out to Oakland he has been working on his upcoming solo album "The Ritual" which also will be accompanied by a DVD. Look for Sabac's album to drop late 2006/early 2007. Meanwhile, he is finishing up "The Collabo Collection Vol. 2" Mix CD which will drop Fall 2006. But before that comes out his "No Boundaries" Mix CD which is a collection of songs Bac has done with artists from all over the world will hit the streets this summer. www.sabacred.com coming soon!

Goretex is getting ready to start recording his new solo album.

DJ Eclipse is working on his "Halftime Radio Show" DVD which will feature interviews and freestyles from many of the guests that have been featured on the show over the past few years. It will also include a bonus audio CD of some of the past freestyles not on the DVD. This will be out in the fall. Look for Eclipse's new "Halftime Highlights" column in Elemental Magazine. The monthly column reviews the hottest joints heard on "The Halftime Show" which is Eclipse's radio show heard in NYC on 89.1 FM on Wednesday nights from 10:30 PM-1:00 AM (www.wnyu.org). Eclipse joins the likes of Large Professor and Jazzy Jeff on the upcoming "Rebop-The Savoy Remixes" project. The album consists of remixes of old jazz songs originally released on the Savoy label.

Non Phixion's "Nuclear Truth" album has been pushed back until the next round of solo albums drop. With all the momentum and promotion surrounding BILL's upcoming solo album, it makes more sense to utilize the staff working that project to push BILL's album which only makes the Non Phixion name bigger. So when we do release "Nuclear Truth" the market will be at it's peak and really ready for the next NP album. Meanwhile, you can catch "Rock Stars" and "2004" w/Obscure Disorder on Midway's "Blitz The League" game released late last year.

Q-Unique's "Mixture 2" CD will be dropping real soon with features from ILL BILL, Sabac, Necro, DJ Eclipse, Tony Touch, E Dot, G.L.O, Datin, former Arsonists members D-Stroy, Freestyle, Jise, and many others. Also coming out soon is "Back Then", a collection of old and rare demos and singles from '89 - '97 including tracks from Q's 1st indy group The Nomaads to unheard demos with The Arsonists. New album and DVD being worked on now.

E-Dot has a mix CD coming out called "Tingtryer" which should be out within the next couple of months. Then there will be a second mix CD released a few months after "Tingtryer" leading up to his debut album "He Shoots, He Scores". In case you don't know, E-Dot and Darp Malone make up the group HERO. They are completing their debut album as well. For more of an idea of what the HERO project will sound like, check out "To Whom It May Concern" by E-Dot.

Soul Position - Things Go Better With RJ and AL

Rjd2 and Blueprint return with the sophomore follow up to 2003's poignant 8 Million Stories. Both accomplished solo artists, you may know RJ from his two critically accliamed albums Deadringer & Since We Last Spoke or his numerous production credits for artists like Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, Massive Attack or Unkle. You may know Blueprint for his solo debut 1988 or work with his group Greenhouse Effect, but when these two join forces they form one of the most cohesive one mc/one producer duos in Hip Hop. Blending the light hearted fun of the Unlimited EP with the emotionally charged storytelling of 8 Million Stories ultimately proves that Things Go Better With RJ And Al

...............................
By now folks may have heard the news about the sudden passing of Professor X of X-Clan.. I got off the phone with Brother J who was the lead rapper of this legendary group who delivered the sad news. We believe he died from spinal menegitas.. Tonight there will be a special tribute to Professor X on Divine Forces Radio 90.7 KPFK starting at 10pm if you are in Los Angeles. Brother J will be on as well as Paris..

The passing of Professor X is sad indeed.. For those who are unfamiliar with Professor X please read the statement released by Afrika Bambaataa... X was the guy who coined the phrase "Van Glorious This is Protected by the Red, The Black and The Green"...What's so sad and crazy is that nowadays when you talk about Professor X to today's younger Hip Hop audience, they immediately think of the guy from the comic X-men..

Professor X aka Lumumba Carson was a good cat..who will be missed...

THE 5TH ELEMENT OF HIP HOP
KNOWLEDGE, CULTURE, OVERSTANDING END

Jay-Z Speaks on Cam'ron Diss and Nas Signing

Jay-Z Speaks on Cam'ron Diss and Nas Signing

Jay-Z scoffed at Cam??€ron??€s diss records today, but he didn??€t rule out responding when he??€s not busy preparing for up coming Def Jam releases which include a new Nas album later this year. ??€?I feel like I would be stupid to even pay that any attention, because it's such a ploy,??€? he told MTV news. ??€?N---as is holding press conferences behind [the diss record].??€?

Diplomat Records CEO/ headliner Cam??€ron has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday where he will once again elaborate on his motives for releasing ??€?Gotta Love It??€? and ??€?Swagger Jacker??€? last week and preview his new album/film Killa Season. Jay says another reason he is iffy about responding is because Cam??€s songs don??€t inspire him. ??€?Cam's sh-- is not artistic,??€? he says. ??€?That sh-- is trash.??€?

Jay-Z also says he??€s ??€?shocked??€? that Dame Dash apparently warned Cam that Dipset might be targeted, prior to Jay??€s ??€?I Declare War??€? concert last October. The show turned out to be a peace fest that included the Lox, P. Diddy, Beanie Sigel and the biggest surprise guest: Nas. His accompaniment on the chorus of Jay??€s ??€?Dead Presidents??€? two nights in a row was a step towards what became an official business relationship earlier this week.

Def Jam President Jay-Z has paid for the creation of two Nas albums through a collaborative deal between his label and Sony Music Group. ??€?[I'm proud to have him on Def Jam] for so many different levels," he says. ??€?One, he's been at the forefront of hip-hop since he's been out. [Illmatic] is arguably one of the best albums ever made. To have that down with the team, it's just a beautiful thing. Two, it says so much about the culture. It shows another way. [The media] always portrays us like we're ignorant. It shows another ending.??€? Jay says fans can look for Nas??€ first Def Jam album, which may feature a Jay-Z/Nas collaboration, next fall. He is reportedly also excited about forthcoming albums from veterans Ghostface and LL Cool J. Jay plans on adding one or two more big names to the roster this year.

KRS-One and Marley Marl Working Together: Who Cares?

Image

Rap beef is never going to go away, especially since 50 Cent showed everyone that a correctly managed and sensationalized insta-feud can push first-week sales into stratospheric numbers. It gets fans interested, it gets media attention, and it adds to the weird constant soap-opera flux that keeps rap's extra-musical stuff interesting in a pro-wrestling/Marvel Universe kind of way. It's also produced plenty of great music. But these days, it's omnipresent to the point where you can't hold a massively ridiculous all-star video shoot without someone getting killed, and that's disgusting. Maybe that's why beef-deading has become cool in rap lately: Jay-Z inviting Nas onstage and then signing him, Chamillionaire and Mike Jones and Lil Flip and Slim Thug all appearing together on the same Source cover in what I'm told was an actual photo shoot and not a Photoshop collage. This new trend toward calm, peaceful resolution can only be considered a great thing for rap in general; besides the inevitable violence that comes along with everyone hating everyone, the constant animosity can get exhausting, stressful and boring and predictable, just another excuse for deluded grandstanding. But the beef-killing trend also makes for a pretty easy way for irrelevant rappers to make desperate publicity-grabs, and I sincerely hope that's not what's going on in the case of KRS-One and Marley Marl.

Back when KRS and Marley got all tangled up in what plenty of people still insist is the greatest rap battle of all time, there wasn't enough money in rap for beef to be a money-driven fakeout pose. Even though the feud helped build both of their names, it really seemed to be about righteous anger and wounded pride and, um, historical accuracy rather than sales. When "The Bridge" and "South Bronx" and "Kill That Noise" and "The Bridge is Over" came out, I was more concerned with collecting all five Dinobots than anything else, but from what I understand, the feud seemed to capture the imagination of New York City at a time when rap was still pretty much a New York City thing. It certainly provided one of the defining moments in both of these guys' careers. With all that said, it's not like their beef means a single thing to rap in 2006. When Jay and Nas stood onstage together, neither had made a record about the other one in nearly four years, they'd been hinting at a reconciliation for months, and even then it felt a bit like less of a story than it would've been if Jay had dissed 50 Cent or Cam'ron. With KRS and Marley, these guys haven't made records about each other in about twenty years, and neither one has been relevant in ten (and that's being nice). Even if they've been harboring lost-standing simmering hatred against each other since then, the rest of the world moved on long ago. Marley has been basically inactive since releasing one of those BBE albums in 2001, virtually a recluse from what I understand. I haven't heard KRS's recent albums, but he's pretty much a joke these days, doing gospel-rap and beefing with Nelly and telling Nas to talk to NASA about hip-hop on Mars or whatever and generally going batshit-ass crazy. Yesterday, the two announced that they'd be making an album together for Koch, and it's not entirely certain whether anyone should care.

I'm skeptical, but this story warrants attention because these two could still manage to put out a great album together. I don't have the book in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure the ego trip people ranked Marley the #1 producer of all time and KRS either the #1 or #2 rapper in their Book of Rap Lists. (From where I'm sitting, Dre and Biggie would be the no-brainer choices, but those guys know a lot more about rap than I do.) Marley's old Juice Crew productions have more warmth and fluidity than virtually anything coming out these days, which is remarkable when you consider the advances in technology and budget that the genre has seen since then. It's tough to say whether he's capable of doing anything great in 2006, unless he's been doing freelance work that I didn't know about for Fat Beats backpackers or something for the past few years, but the tracklisting on this 2005 mix CD looks promising. KRS's recent material could be absolute garbage (or it could be great for all I know; John Darnielle seems to like it, for whatever that's worth). But at his peak he had more force and passion and eloquence than anyone else working. If a project like this manages to help him regain some focus, he might still have some fire in him. This is rap, so there's no guarantee that the collaborative album will even ever come out, but this story is worth following.

50 Cent Plays R&B Singer in Mary J. Blige's New Video
By: Mark Lelinwalla
April 4, 2006

When Mary J. Blige needed a guest star to put her new video for ??€?Enough Cryin??€? over the top, she called on 50 Cent.

"I got a phone call from Mary when I was actually in Bangkok, I was touring out there," 50 told MTV.com. ??€?Me, her and [Blige's husband] Kendu have a good relationship, and she just worked with me on Mobb Deep's new album, Blood Money. So we got a chance to communicate back and forth for those reasons, and the idea of me being in the video came up. I was like, 'I'd love to.'??€?

In Blige??€s video, which was directed by Hype Williams in Long Beach, California, 50 plays C.J., short for Curtis Jackson, an aggressive R&B singer that loses his cool when questioned during an interview.

"Enough Cryin" is loosely based on a similar episode from Blige's life, involving ex-boyfriend, K-Ci from Jodeci.

MJB, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, was happy to get 50, the G-Unit general, to help tell fans of her embarrassing ordeal.

"I don't want to give it away," Blige told MTV.com about 50??€s role in her new clip. "It's real comical, what he does to the interviewer. I'm just glad he's here. I love 50. I'm so happy. He's so supportive of Mary J. Blige, and I'm very supportive of 50.

??€?He's just gonna make the video that much better than what it already is."

??€?Enough Cryin??€??€? is scheduled to air this week.
