The Weeknd is a Toronto-based R&B artist named Abel Tesfaye.[1][2] Songs recorded under The Weeknd name first leaked in early 2011, though the identity of the individual behind the project was initially unknown.[3][4] The collective released a nine-song mixtape, House of Balloons, on March 21.
