Big Boi Addresses Andre 3000's Apology On T.I.'s "Trouble Man"

Image Big Boi also circles back to the age-old question of whether or not they'll release another Outkast album.

On T.I.'s Trouble Man, Andre 3000 spits a verse on the song "Sorry," apologizing to Big Boi for "fucking up the tour." During an interview with Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg, Sir Lucious Leftfoot addressed the line on the record, stating that he has no hard feelings about how Three Stacks decided to go his own way and that he's more focused on his own projects.

"I don't really get it. Awkward... I don't get it. He's apologizing for being awkward at shows? Apologize for turning down a million dollars a night," he said. "He didn't want to perform no more, but that's understandable. I just kept on pushing. Kept on going. To me, the whole thing about the performance thing is, I know fans want to see us do the songs together. But I never stopped touring. I'm on my second solo record."

Big Boi, who also reveals that Diddy directed the video for "Player's Ball," said that he was nothing but supportive of 3K's bizarre fashion choices, stating that it was part of the group's aesthetic. "I was supportive. When he first started doing that, I was like, whatever whatever. We both had our own style. But then, when we did things like Chris Rock, he had on a diaper. I was the main supporter."

As for the elusive Outkast reunion album? "It's whatever man. If Dre's ready to do it and I'm not on tour all around the world, let's go, for sure."

Big Boi Says Andre 3000 Isn't On His New Album Because "He Had To Do Some Gillette Shit"

Image Big Boi reveals why Andre 3000 isn't featured on his new album and why Kelly Rowland replaced Little Dragon on "Mama Told Me."

With the status of a new Outkast album still up in the air, fans of the iconic Atlanta duo were hoping to get a taste of what that album may sound like thanks to an Andre 3000 feature on Big Boi’s upcoming Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors solo album, but when the tracklist for the project was released it noticeably lacked any Andre 3000 features.

During his interview with The Village Voice, Big Boi revealed that his fellow ‘Kast member could have been on any record but “contractual obligations” kept the rapper from appearing on any songs.

“He could've been on any song he wanted to. I gave the motherfucker about five songs, but I guess he was just too busy,” Big Boi explained. “He said he had to do some Gillette shit. No for real. He said he had some contractual obligations.”

Big Boi spoke on yet another album mystery when he shared the details of why Swedish band Little Dragon was replaced by singer Kelly Rowland on the album version of his record “Mama Told Me.” It turns out that label issues were to blame for the songs last minute replacement.

“Well they left their original label and signed to Universal so it was like bad blood between Universal and Peace Frog,” said the rapper. “So when it came time to negotiate clearance it didn't go so well. But they're still on the album and Kelly Rowland is just singing the lyrics Yukimi wrote.”

Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors will be released on December 11 and will serve as Big Boi’s second solo album.

Big Boi Says Cee Lo Green Was Almost In Outkast

Image

Big Boi recalls why Cee Lo Green didn't join him in Outkast with Andre 3000.

Outkast and Goodie Mob have always been close associates, sharing commonality as part of the Dungeon Family and recording over the years. But fans may not know that Cee Lo Green was originally supposed to be part of Outkast.

During an interview with ThisIs50.com, Big Boi spoke on how "The Voice" judge would always be hanging around but that he and Andre 3000 were much tighter. "Yeah, kinda sorta. He was hanging out with us. We go way back, so kinda. For a brief minute," he said. "Me and Dre was just together more. We would see Cee Lo sometimes but not all the time like that. Me and Dre was together day in, day out."

Big Boi is set to release his new album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors tomorrow. The set features appearances from Little Dragon, A$AP Rocky and more.
