un articol tare despre wu-tang logo...e nou aparut d-aia l-am bagat aici...nu ca ar fi o stire

Consisting of nine NY natives, the Wu-Tang Clan is arguably one of the most influential rap groups and possibly one of the best in hip-hop history. Wu-Tang constituents are well renowned for their use of imagery and graphic metaphors throughout their lyrics and videos, most notably in “Triumph.” The name Wu-Tang stems from the martial arts film, Shaolin and Wu Tang, where warriors were trained to fight in the Wu-Tang kung fu style. Since their creation in 1992, the Wu have fused many different artistic influences into their music, videos and especially cover art. Together Wu-Tang and their affiliates have dropped over 100 albums and mixtapes, each with their own distinct and creative cover art that continue to catch the eyes of fans across the globe.

The Wu-Tang “W” is one of the most distinguishable logos in hip-hop culture. Wu clan members adorn the “W” logo on everything from clothing to chains, but it is most prominent on dozens of album covers. By staying consistent with the infamous “W,” the Clan have made themselves instantly recognizable and popular within hip-hop culture.

GZA and DJ Muggs - Grandmasters

GZA joins forces with DJ Muggs on the cleverly titled Grandmasters album. As the self proclaimed grandmasters of their crafts, GZA and Muggs use the “grandmasters of chess” theme to express their deft skill and intellect. The flags of the chess table mirror the shape of the “W” logo and the chess game imagery reflects the chess terminology used in the track listing like “Queen’s Gambit,” “Unprotected Pieces,” “Advanced Pawns,” and “Smothered Mate.”

Masta Killa - No Said Date

Masta Killa brings listeners back to the vintage, old school meets new school sound of Wu-Tang in tracks like “Digi Warfare,” “School” and “Old Man.” The Masta Killa initials are reminiscent of the classic “W” logo on a back drop of splattered paint and a mixture of classic hip-hop images of a turntable and speaker as well as a few fantasy references like the demon that are often featured in the more creative Wu album covers.

Method Man - Tical

Method Man foreshadows the dark themes and deep bass of Tical, specifically in “Biscuits” and “Sub Crazy,” with deep hues and intense dark, wispy cover art. His marijuana references parallel the picture of him blowing smoke and the tattered “W” logo mimics that of a horror story.

RZA - Bobby Digital in Stereo

Bobby Digital in Stereo introduced the world to RZA’s cyber-thug, alter-ego Bobby Digital. This album cover depicts the heroic Bobby Digital over a back drop of fast cars, girls and enemies emerging from a giant “W” logo.

After a Shooting, a Rapper Stages a Protest in Rhyme

At midnight on Thursday night, listeners who were tuned into the New York hip-hop radio station Hot 97 got a bracing surprise. Over some familiar strings, a voice said, “R.I.P. to Sean Bell,” the black man who was killed by the police in Queens early Saturday morning. “R.I.P. to Kathryn Johnston,” he continued, naming the 88-year-old woman who was killed by the police in Atlanta last week. “R.I.P. to Amadou Diallo,” he said naming the African immigrant who was shot by the police in the Bronx in 1999. “The list goes on. A change gon’ come.”

The Empire Zone on Papoose's "50 Shots."

The voice belonged to Papoose, a rapper from Brooklyn whose new song, “50 Shots,” is a furious — and surprisingly detailed — response to the shooting of Mr. Bell. In the last few days, the song has been circulating online. And DJ Kay Slay, who has become a mentor to Papoose, began his midnight radio show by playing it. Papoose has made a name for himself by releasing dozens of mix tapes over the last few years; in one of his best-known songs, “Sharades,” he rapped in the voice of “the hip-hop police,” promising to throw more rappers in jail.

His style is heavy-handed and quite often dull; he often seems content merely to shout his rhymes over the beat. But he is ambitious and relentless, and with Kay Slay’s help, he got a contract with Jive Records.

Certainly he wasted no time in responding to the events of Saturday morning, when five police officers fired 50 shots at a car, killing Mr. Bell, who was to be married later that day, and wounding two others, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield.

Papoose’s song uses a sample of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.” Near the beginning, he says, “Make the whole hood feel sad, it’s sadness/But we feel mad — it’s madness.” Then he delves into the details.

He assails the officers by name: “Mike Oliver said his gun jammed, he the main one/12-year veteran and don’t know how to use a gun.”

He paraphrases the Police Department’s Patrol Guide: “The law states a cop is not permitted to shoot at a moving car.” (That’s true, unless the officer is responding to some “deadly physical force” besides the car itself.)

He offers measured praise for Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, comparing him to his predecessor: “He got some better manners, but let’s see if we get some better policy.”

Papoose even finds time to respond to a column by John Podhoretz from Tuesday’s New York Post; this is a rhyme that sometimes feels more like a vituperative blog entry.

Listeners sometimes wonder why hip-hop doesn’t produce more fiery protest music. “50 Shots,” an unsubtle little song that packs a thrilling little charge, is proof that the protest tradition lives on.

It may also help listeners understand why this sort of thing isn’t more common.

Your average hip-hop track is more freewheeling than this one, and much more fun. If most rappers prefer boasts to brickbats — well, you can see (and hear) why.

Bishop Lamont has been hard at work lately. He's been in the studio night and day recording music in preperation for an explosive 2007 for Aftermath. Bishop's debut "The Reformation" is currently scheduled for Summer of next year, with Dr. Dre's "DETOX" following in the Fall.

In the meantime, fans can expect to hear Bishop on the mixtape "Nigga Noize", hosted by DJ Skee. That mix-tape, in addition to a mix-tape called "The Pope-Mobile" will probably hit the streets by Spring of next year.

With some possable changes coming up for The Math as well as the recent signing of Tiffany, Dr. Dre and Bishop Lamont will have thier hands full preparing for a new era of Aftermath and counting down to Bishop and Dre's respective releases!

Bishop will soon be hitting the studio with Chris Martin from Coldplay and some other respected Urban artists. No guest artists have officially been confirmed, but planned sessions with Eminem and 50 Cent are in order. Production on the anticipated LP is expected to come from Dr. Dre, Battlecat, DJ Premier, The RZA, Pete Rock and others. Be sure to keep checking with www.Aftermathmusic.com for more info.

hello

in an effort to maintain the hype around the crew's projects that el's record has rightfully brought on i thought i'd take the time to give yall some info on my next full length LP due out sometime in the first half of 07.

but FIRST i would like to say that i have heard "i'll sleep when you're dead" in its entirety, and in my opinion it is worth every bit of excitement and anticipation that you all are expressing. he is a sick man with a sick sound. nobody in music does shit like this. nobody. i am happy to be a part of the record, (and on my favorite beat on the record, though im not allowed to really say that cuz hey i'm on it). regardless i assure you the wait has been very much worth it. go el.

my new LP will be called "none shall pass". i know how the rap fans love the 'stats', so let's just get that over with. everything here is subject to change a little, but for the most part it's looking like......
beats:

7 by blockhead
5 by me
1 by el-p
1 by rob sonic

all scratches and turntable trickery by dj Big Wiz, who is on every song (some a lot some a little, but every one), and who recorded some really really ill shit at my crib last week.

other voices you will hear on the record in one form or another and some more than once (be it in verse, talking, singing, yodeling, ad-libbing, chorus-ing, etc.) include: el-p, cage, camutao, breeze brewin, rob sonic, john darnielle,

does it sound like labor days? float? bazooka? f.c.d.f.k.? who knows. i pick none. i hope none. honestly i think it has a more diverse sound throughout the record than anything ive done. many different tempos, many different vibes. blocks beats are crazy, and also different from stuff ive heard from him in the past (though he cant seem to stop sampling people singing in hebrew backwards). maybe we just picked odd shit for me. i dunno. the production i did doesnt sound like much ive done before. theres even one that's, dare i say....jazzy??!!???!?!!! ahhhhhh!!!!! el and rob's beats are appropriately savage. additionally, there is some live intrumentation on a few things. more on all that later.

the rhymes... well i dunno what to say, how do i talk about this shit. i can say that it feels moreso than ever like i actually wrote something. maybe cuz it's for the most part all really visual shit. all stories in one way or another, whether told in 1st or 3rd person, really linear or really chopped up, its all stories that are supposed to represent different time periods in one's life. from childrens stories to growing up stories to adult stories. folkore shit. maybe some are more 'themes' than 'stories', but i tried to do it all pretty visually, and story-ish. there's a lot of 'fuck you', but not much 'fuck you rappers'. cuz frankly i dont fucking care about that right now. there is an overall concept, its not just a mish-mosh of stories, but more on all that later.

at this point nothing is mixed. most of it is recorded, though a few are still a bit in 'demo' form and need some fine tuning and re-kicking. all of this is with the exception of this me and el joint which im currently writing. i had to wait til he was done with his shit. i ghost wrote all his shit for it. no im kidding i didnt do that. combine all that with whatever last minute song(s) i write that i deem a necessitiy for the record, (which usually somehow happens starting the day after you should have stopped working.) i will say (for the blockhead fans) that he told me this is his favorite LP of anything ive ever done, which makes me happy cuz thats my dude. mixing in jan or feb probably. more info to come.

again all that is subject to change, but you know.

in other news, i have this other project that i got asked to do that will actually be dropping before this record. i have to put my name on this piece of paper before i can say it, but its definately happening and it'll prob be out in around january. its hard to describe what it is without saying it, and im not really allowed to say it yet. its not really an album but it kind of is. how's that?

be good to one another.
best

Nas Week: "Hip-Hop Is Dead" Predicted To Do 200K In First Week

One day after the release of Nas' 8th solo album, Hip-Hop Is Dead, the Queens lyricist is expected to carry on Def Jam's fourth quarter onslaught by putting up solid numbers.

"The day it [Hip-Hop Is Dead] dropped, a lot of people bought it, Tuesday night, Wednesday morning," Kevin Weeks, an employee at Times Square's Virgin Megastore in New York City, told SOHH.com. "He's gonna do well."

With albums steadily flying off Best Buys and Virgin shelves, experts expect the CD to sell at least 200,000 copies in its first week.

"I'm gonna say 200 [thousand] first week," Raphael George, Billboard's R&B Charts Manager, told SOHH.com. "He's got a lot of attention right now, a lot of people are talking about him. A lot of people are talking about what he said about 'hip-hop is dead,' people, especially from the south are taking offense to that."

"I think right now he's got a lot going in his corner," George added. "Even though radio right now might not say that, but Nas, his stuff doesn't really hit radio like that."

It's Official," Wu Tang Clan Sign Album Deal With SRC

"SRC Records CEO Steve Rifkind recently announced that he has reunited with the Wu-Tang Clan for a new album.

Wu-Tang, who first came to prominence via Rifkind's now-defunct Loud Records, have not released a group album since 2001. During their six-year hiatus, all nine members of the New York rap collective have released solo albums.

The group's most infamous member, ODB (born Russell Tyrone Jones), died in 2004 from an accidental overdose while recording his third solo project.

"I just got off the phone with Divine and RZA from Wu-Tang, we are coming back, we are joining forces for one album, coming up in 2007," said Rifkind via a video on his blog, thelabel.blog.com. "I don't know what the name of the album is but we are back, its official. Wu-Tang and Steve Rifkind are back together."

Rifkind is also credited for breaking rap acts like Mobb Deep, Big Pun and Xzibit, among others. His current SRC roster includes Akon, Remy Ma, Pharoahe Monch and Remy Ma."

Game not on Detox officially confirmed. Could this point at Game's dead-end career?

The Game Relationship with his former Dr.Dre isn't that good as it seems.
Game lied before that Dr.Dre would be on his album when 50 Cent already stated that there won't be such thing happening. Last week Game said that Dr.Dre assured him that he will be on his upcoming album Detox "Ohh man me and Dre spoke and I'll be on his album 100 percent. We from Compton man we like bothers you know I respect that man" but 50 Cent spit shots at Game again in an interview for Hot97 where he said "Game on Detox? That's like me going on Nas album in this moment. It's impossible. Trust me cuz you didn't trust me either when I said about Game not having Dr.Dre's production, promotion and help on his album. Game will not be on Detox cuz he doesn't need to be on that shit when we dropped him from Aftermath/G Unit. All this bullshit he keep talking it's a bubblegum thing. Look at his album sales...he copies me making a Soundscan diss for Banks floping situation like I did for Ja Rule when he sold only 18.000 not 250.000 I mean that's a big difference. Anyway how could you make a Soundscan diss when your highly promoted album which you said gon reach bout 1 million records first week did like 350.000 than did so bad that even in 6 weeks he got just gold man. I mean nigga is on drugs I think...he stupid or somthing cuz he got only 650.000 sold and that's so lame. That's why I walked around with that DA shirt cuz he a fucked up artists and NO ONE from Aftermath will ever do a song with this guy cuz he just fake and has lied and snitched on G Unit, and that's something like Em & Dre could not accept.". So with this said and Dr.Dre's statement for Sebrina Vandall from XXL Magazine it's clearly sure that 50 is right again, Game lied again and Dr.Dre confirmed again that he is not interesting in Game and he doesn't want to have guys like him in his entourage.
