Proof Documentary Coming to Theaters
One year after the death of D12 rapper Proof, a new movie featuring the slain lyricist will hit theaters.
The documentary, titled Time A Tell, provides a look at the Detroit Hip-Hop scene, while featuring Proof and DJ Jewels in the studio as they put together a complete 18-track CD full of original lyrics and beats within 24 hours for a segment called The Challenge.
Presented by Jewels, Priceless Music and Iron Fist Records, Time A Tell is the last creative work of Proof, who was fatally shot one year ago today (Apr. 11 2006) at the Triple C club on Eight Mile Road following a heated argument with 35-year-old Keith Bender Jr.
The alleged shooter, Bender’s cousin Mario Etheridge, avoided murder charges in the case after a court determined he shot and killed Proof in an act of self-defense.
Since the incident, Bender’s family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Proof's estate, claiming the rapper was responsible for escalating a fist fight that resulting in Proof pulling a gun on Bender and shooting him.
Time A Tell will premiere at 8 p.m. Thursday (April 12) in the GM Theater at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit.
The event will be followed by a reception and after-party at 9:45 p.m.

AllHipHop.com wrote:How To Kill Hip-Hop Before It Kills You
By illseed
To all the people who are trying to stop Hip-Hop, you can't do it, because you don't have the wherewithal to truly do what it takes. Hip-Hop is the voice of a generation, in all its violent, misogynist, deviant and self-destructive glory. We're still here, y'all, and you posh, spicy types need an assassin like illseed to assist you in annihilating rap. You want to ban us and boycott us! Censor us! You want to shut us up and sweep us under a big, fat rug with the rest of the dirt! All of that is for sissies...let me show you the way to really destroy Hip-Hop.
KILL ALL THE RAPPERS
If these rappers are like the plague or something and, since there is no antidote, kill them. When you finish exterminating the vermin, hang them from the street lamps in urban every city in America (and the suburbs), Vlad Tepes style and show these young kids that Hip-Hop is no longer an acceptable form of expression. Quarantine them like any other contagious disease or else it will continue to infect the pure, pristine world we live in.
KILL THE REAL HOES
There was no reason for Imus to call those upstanding college ball players "nappy headed hoes," especially since many of them relax their hair and are not sexually promiscuous. I hate to unearth this secret, but there are actually a lot of real hoes in the world that contribute tremendously to the global skank level. Consequently, the porn industry pumps out a lot of hoe cakes! All strippers are not hoes, but smoke generally indicates a fire. (No pun intended.) I ask, "What's a pimp without a hooker?" He is a weird older dude with funny looking clothes and no money! Remove these real hoes and you won't have a rapper with any hoes to talk about.
OPRAH HAS TO START A RAP LABEL
Now, this Imus stuff has re-ignited an argument that has existed for years and even Oprah Winfrey jumped on the bloated band wagon. Since she is riding the wave, she might as well go "all in."Oprah should start a label that represents the kind of Hip-Hop her audience would like. Why not? GET THAT GWAP! (For the Hip-Hopically impaired, that means "get as much money as you can.") But, with the mythical Oprah at the helm, it could truly serve as a means to destroy racism, sexism and every other "ism" that we face daily. Furthermore, it would eradicate the war on terror, poverty itself, lower the AIDS rate, create jobs, educate the ignorant and erase the affects of 400 years of slavery in America. I nominate Stanley Crouch as the Chairman of O Records, Tipper Gore as the VP, Jason Whitlock as the "unsexy" Secretary of Snacks and Young MC as the first signee. Mo' Money, Mo' Money, Mo' Money!
REVOKE THE RIGHT TO TALK
"Cussin wasn't nothin 'til a black man rapped," a well known rapper Treach once said. He was right. Despite the fact that profane language has existed through the years, these rap guy are just taking it to far. If they talk, mandate that an officer write a ticket! Of course the economy of the African continent may falter with no money left over to buy iced-out chains. Eventually, enough tickets and violators would be fined, arrested, and even have to be physically impounded like a car. After they serve their jail time, make them have to log in as registered bad word offenders. The sign outside of their homes with allow you to know that your daughter, son or you may be called a "b***h," "hoe," "n***er," or some other word those Rappers call each other. On "Freedom of Speech," MC Ice-T rapped with filth, "The more you try to suppress us, the larger we get." Famous last words, sucka!
LASTLY - STOP REALITY
All this reality is really just giving rappers material to talk about on these records! Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Jason Whitlock, Bill O'Reilly and others can properly pool their resources and STOP REALITY. That's right my friends, reality is the ultimate foe! You knock "it" out and everything else will fall in line like beating up the school bully. I recommend that Oprah stop producing all these slave-period movies/ plays/ productions, because it reminds people of the racist reality Black folks used to endure. The Bills, Cos and O'Reilly, ought to use their vast minds to prevent reality from showing these rappers what they are going through - mentally and physically. Rapper have this big mirror and its reflecting a lot of "ugly" that was in society well before rap. Break that mirror, screw the bad luck and bury reality itself.
FINALLY
If the haters of rap don't execute what I have prescribed, you will not only fail, but you will prove that you are not serious about getting rid of a generation. Yes, sadly a large body of people call themselves "The Hip-Hop Generation." These people consist of a veritable cornicopia of races, colors, nation alities, creeds and societal subscriptions. Not only are they crooks and criminals, they are doctors, lawyers, writers, women, kids and professionals.
Somebody kill us already!
Get it over with before Hip-Hop music descends us into the bowels of hell.
Do it.
...If you can.

ILL BILL - "The Hour Of Reprisal" in stores 9/11/07
I figured I'd hit all of you with my first update about the record so here it is."The Hour Of Reprisal" is pretty much done. Carlos Bess and I just finished mixing a track that I produced featuring HR and Daryl from the Bad Brains that I'm really psyched about. We have about 90% of the album mixed so far. At the moment we're waiting for Necro and Muggs to add some finishing touches to some tracks they produced before we mix 'em. One of the tracks Muggs did will actually be the album closer and it already sounds crazy. Everlast sung the hook, while Necro, Tech N9ne and me each spit a verse. I can't wait to hear what Muggs is adding to it. He did another track on the record that was basically a loop when I originally layed my vocals but now sounds like a movie soundtrack with a bunch of different mood swings and change ups. I've been waiting to work with Muggs for a long time now and it's been an incredible experience clicking up with him for "The Hour".
I did a track with Immortal Technique called "War Is My Destiny" that Max Cavalera of Soulfly/Sepultura fame heard and said he's gonna drop a hook on. Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage is gonna lay down a hook on a track that T-Ray did. For those that remember, Todd did the remix to "C.I.A." from "The Future Is Now" album. This track is a bit different for the obvious reason that it's not a remix, but also cos he tailor made this track specifically for me and really hit the nail on the head with it. So once Max and Howard's parts are done, all the vocals will be complete. In a pefect world we'll be mastering the record by May 15, but let's say June 1st just to be safe! There's a bunch more I could say right now in terms of special guests and producers (wait til you hear "Coka Moshiach" ft. Raekwon..think Cuban Linx era Wu..Rae said it, not me..) but I'll leave that for the next update.
In the meantime, marketing plans are being set into motion, video treatments are being plotted, tours are being routed and the album cover, lyric booklet and poster is being masterfully created by Larry Carroll right now. Here'a little blurb I found about Larry on the internets :
"Larry Carroll is an artist who has worked for The Progressive, The Village Voice and the New York Times drawing political illustrations. Carrolls most notable work is designing the artwork for the American thrash metal band Slayer's album covers. Carroll designed the artwork for Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss and Christ Illusion. Christ Illusion was banned in India for its graphic art depicting Christ mutilated with missing limbs, in a sea of blood with severed heads."
Having him work on "The Hour Of Reprisal" is an honor. Artwise he's not slowing down on the controversy either. This works out perfect cos lyrically this will be my most controversial record yet. Saying anything with the least bit of meaning on a rap song these days is controversial enough but I have a whole lot to say this time around and I don't bite my tongue for anybody.
That's it for now. if anybody has any questions about the record, respond to this at :
http://blog.myspace.com/illbill
and I'll try to answer it in the next update.

The 25 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time
25) Jay-Z, The Blueprint
"A lot of people will argue that Reasonable Doubt is Jay's best. Reasonable Doubt was too derivative for my taste. But on The Blueprint Jay was at his most obnoxious, playful and Machiavellian i.e. his best. It's the sound of a man consciously putting the genre on his back and bum rushing the mountain top." - Angry Citizen
24) Black Star, Black Star
"I remember coppin' this, Aquemini, and Lenny Kravitz's 5 on the same day. Needless to say, I was jammin' for months. I miss those days." - Boo Goo Doo Boom

Criminal charges were officially filed against The Game today (June 4) in connection with a February altercation during a game of basketball in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors claim that The Game, born Jayceon Taylor, was involved in an altercation in which he allegedly punched a player on the opposing team and then pulled a gun out of his red Cadillac Escalade and threatened to shoot the unnamed victim.
The incident took place Feb. 24 at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex.
In May, Los Angeles Police Department officers searched his suburban Glendale, California home seeking evidence in connection with the altercation.
The Game was previously arrested in connection with the incident and released on $50,000 bail.
Today he was charged with making a felony count of making a criminal threat, felony possession of a firearm in a school zone and a felony count of exhibiting a firearm in the presence of an officer.
