dam since the insinuation was made its been mayhem. some are saying full on reunion, some are saying rumor, some are saying nothing. i really wanted to make this all a bit of a suprise but misinformation is a motherfucker, so here's as much as i can and will say:
hopefully, if things go right, the def jux show in brooklyn this friday in which i am headlining will be more than has been printed on the bill. its looking possible that i may be performing some songs that i haven't performed in years. that may mean all of us (by now i assume you know the "us" i'm referring to), that may mean 2 of us, and of course it may still not happen at all. thats all i am gonna say on it... although if i were a betting man i might place my money on friday being a pretty eventful night.
and beyond all the fancy shit, we have the sickest line up of the night anyway. hope to see everyone there.
best, el-p

Nas confirms album title will be epithet
NEW YORK - To some, it's a hurtful racial epithet. For Nas, it's an album title.

The rapper told MTV News that he would indeed be naming his new album after the N-word. And he denied earlier reports that the album's title would be spelled "N---a," considered in some circles a less inflammatory epithet. He said the disc is due out Dec. 11.
"(People) shouldn't trip off the (album's) title; the songs are crazier than the title," he said in an interview posted on MTV's Web site.
But some have been outraged by the rapper's choice.
"The title using the 'N' word is morally offensive and socially distasteful. Nas has the right to degrade and denigrate in the name of free speech, but there is no honor in it," the Rev. Jesse Jackson said in a news release. "Radio and television stations have no obligation to play it and self-respecting people have no obligation to buy it. I wish he would use his talents to lift up and inspire, not degrade."
There were reports that his label, Def Jam, had scuttled the title idea. But Nas told MTV that he has had no opposition from the label, and said his intent in naming the album the N-word was to take the sting out of it.
"We're taking power from the word," he added. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil rights movement, but some ... in the streets don't know who (civil rights activist) Medgar Evers was ... they know who Nas is," the rapper said, referring to the civil rights leader slain in the 1960s.
"And to my older people who don't know who Nas is and who don't know what a street disciple is, stay outta this (expletive) conversation. We'll talk to you when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking power from that word."
A representative for Def Jam did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking comment from The Associated Press sent after business hours.
The use of the N-word is common in rap, though rapper Chamillionaire recently declared he would no longer use that word or curse in his rhymes.

Saigon is quitting the game. Here’s the statement he released exclusively to HipHopGame.
“Fuck this wack-ass bullshit, this fake-ass…The game is wack. It’s not owned by us. It’s not controlled by us. All we are are fucking pawns in a chess game and I don’t want to be a pawn no more, so I’m jumping off the chessboard. Take me out the game.
“I think I should be putting more time into my nonprofit organization In Arms Reach and Abandoned Nation. We help the kids of New York City whose parents are incarcerated. Everybody who wanted to support me in this rap shit can support me by going to InArmsReach.org. You don’t have to only send money. You can send books or anything the kids can use. Anything that can help a kid in need, send that. Support me like that.”
Saigon also addressed Joe Budden’s recent freestyle on Rap City, where he said, “With the chicks I hit and run like Saigon.”
“Joe Budden never in his life would have gone to a show of somebody he has beef with, got onstage and performed. Being that he feels so comfortable putting my name as one of the butts of his jokes, I hope feels as comfortable in that hospital gown because I’m going upside his head.
“It’s not just this Joe Budden shit. I can’t even wake up and fart without seeing this shit on the internet and I’m not even famous. Imagine if I was famous. I would go crazy. This shit would drive me fucking nuts. Everybody feels like they got a right to criticize you. I’m not one of these people. I take it personally and I can’t deal with it. If me being a rapper is inviting everybody to throw stones and take shots at me, then I don’t want to be a rapper because I’m going to be the one who ends up suffering. I’m going to do something to one of these people and it’s going to cost me my life and my freedom.
“This is it. The Greatest Story Never Told...I guess you could say it was prophecy.”

Postul de televiziune VH1 va difuza in curand un reality show care le are drept protagoniste pe fetele de la Salt-n-Pepa, care isi vorbesc din nou, dupa cinci ani, si incearca sa-si resolve problemele. Trupa s-a destramat oficial in 2002, cand Cheryl Wray (Salt) a decis sa inrerupa colaborarea si sa inceapa tratamentul impotriva bulimiei si depresiei.
Pete Rock To Release First Album In Four Years “NY’s Finest”
Hip-hop producer/DJ/MC Pete Rock is set to release his first album in four years. Titled NY’s Finest, the album will be released in February 2008 in a joint venture between Soul Survivor Records and NY based indie label Nature Sounds.
The record features a roster of artists that includes Wu-Tang’s Raekwon and Masta Killa, Dipset’s Jim Jones, Papoose, D-Block and Redman amongst others. The first single “We Roll” features Jim Jones and Max B. Other tracks currently circulating are “914″ featuring Styles P and Sheek Louch, “The PJ’s” featuring Raekwon and Masta Killa and “Til I Retire” featuring Pete Rock himself.
Born in the Bronx, NY by Jamaican parents, a teenage Pete Rock first hit the scene in the late 80’s when he joined legendary DJ/producer Marley Marl on NY station WBLS’ show “In Control With Marley Marl.” The popularity of the radio show soon led Pete Rock to experiment with production. In 1991, he was joined by up-and-coming rapper CL Smooth and released the debut EP, All Souled Out. In 1992, the duo dropped Mecca And The Soul Brother, one of the most critically acclaimed hip-hop albums of all time. Pete and CL eventually released The Main Ingredient in 1994. Although the album was very well received by critics and fans alike, the project marked the last effort for the duo.
Since then, Pete Rock has lent his production skills to some of the greatest MC’s. He crafted and remixed hits for Nas, Biggie, Jeru The Damaja, and, more recently, Jim Jones, Talib Kweli’s Ear Drum, Redman’s Red’s Gone Wild and Ghostface, for whom he produced tracks for Fishscale, one of music critics’ favorite hip hop albums of 2006.
