Fugees Return To Form




Hip Hop supergroup The Fugees recently dropped the new single &quotTake It Easy", for the millions of fans hungry for a follow-up to 'The Score'. Their third studio album will be the return to the sound of their earlier recordings when they were known as the Tranzlator Crew. &quotIt's like we're going back to the core of where we come from", Wyclef Jean stated. The trio has embarked on a marathon of recording sessions for the upcoming album. The album release is coming after years of tension and subliminal jabs at one another, and constant gossip that they were discussing re-uniting. They squashed the rumors with a concert at Dave Chapelle's Block Party Concert as well as being the surprise opener for the BET Awards. An album release date is not confirmed at this time.

Jin Returns To The Underground



Jin is back to the battling roots that made him a household name on mixtapes and DVDs with the release of 'Jin Presents: The Emcee's Properganda' on Crafty Plugz and Draft Records. Jin recently made headlines by slaying UK MC Professor Green for the $50,000 crown at the Power Summitt Battle in the Bahamas. After the victory, Jin offered up $10,000 to battle Serius Jones, who defeated Jin a few weeks ago at another highly publicized battle. Jin recently parted ways with Ruff Ryders after releasing 'The Rest is History', and appeared on the scene with a new title, The Emcee. M.O.P. Keeps It Street



Don't get the G-Unit affiliation twisted, M.O.P. is still hard as hell and are set to drop The St. Marxmen through Koch Records. The release is promoted as a street album for the hoods and blocks worldwide. After paying their dues and rockin the underground for years with bangers such as 'How About Some Hardcore', 'Hilltop Flava', 'Rugged Never Smoove', and the anthem 'Ante-Up', M.O.P. has consistently stayed loyal and given their fans the hardcore sound despite shady label politics. The 17-song disc contains collabos with Jay-Z, the late, great ODB, and Teflon.

Quan arressted with 3 guns, weed etc

Nas prot?©g?© and Ill Will/Columbia artist Quan was arrested Tuesday (Oct. 25) in Hampton Virginia and hit with various charges, including felony assault and battery on a police officer.
According to published reports, authorities were responding to a call to a local motel in regards to complaints of a heavy odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms.
When the two patrolmen responded, they were allegedly found Quan, who's real name is Clifford Ferquan Peacock. The rapper allegedly agreed to let them enter the room.
Upon entry, authorities report that they found a loaded handgun in the refrigerator. Once the weapon was spotted authorities state that Peacock the fled the scene and was chased by one officer on foot.
The pursuit was reportedly ended in a hallway of the motel, where Peacock allegedly attacked the officer.

Once the second officer came to the defense, it is reported that three suspects fled the scene.

Once Quan was placed in custody, police report that they recovered $19,000 dollars in cash, 3 handguns, cell phones and a small amount of marijuana.

Quan was arrested on charges of marijuana possession, being a felon in possession of a handgun, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.

No comment from either side was available at press time.

Planet Asia Compiles "The Medi-Cali Trilogy" - November 1, 2005

An MC the calibre of Planet Asia should, as i am sure you agree, find it no trouble to get a label and get records out. However as the years have panned out all Planet Asia has seemed to battle with is Major label politics and independent label incompetence. To the fans relief, all that is set to change. He now has his own company, Gold Chain Music, and strategic partners that share the vision Planet Asia provides. 2006 will see the release of "The Medi-Cali Trilogy", a three-part series from Fresno's finest and as the titles suggest this is the full "healthcare" package.

The first installment, "The Sickness," features production by Khalil, Jake One, D-Cyde, & Amp Live with guest appearances from Moka Only, Rasco, Flii Stylz, Mitchy Slick & Killa Ben. Part two, "The Diagnosis," sees Planet Asia hooking up with the West Coast Mixtape King and good friend of dubcnn, DJ Warrior, who has been putting out nonstop heat for the past few years. The final piece of the puzzle and what you've all been waiting for, "The Medicine," is produced by Evidence and features Black Thought, Prodigy, Strong Arm Steady, Dilated Peoples, Defari, Babu, Revolution, and Shake Da Mayor.

Ron Isley Convicted Of Tax Evasion, Faces 26 Years In Prison

Ronald Isley, lead singer of the Isley Brothers, has been convicted of tax evasion, according to Reuters. The conviction could land the singer in prison for up to 26 years.
According to Reuters report, Isley, 64, was found guilty on Monday (October 31) on five counts of tax evasion and one count of failing to file a tax return.
Isley will be sentenced in January and faces a maximum sentence of 26 years in prison, but is expected to only receive 5 to 10 years, according to court sources.
Although no specific amount was named, prosecutors said the R&B singer lived lavishly over the years, buying a yacht, homes in California and Missouri and two Bentley cars while failing to pay more than $300,000 in taxes in 2002.
In addition, prosecutors said Isley received more than $12 million for performances between 1997 and 2002, but demanded he be paid in cash to avoid paying taxes.
And was also accused of cashing checks issued to other Isley Brothers, as well as his brother O'Kelly, who died in 1986.
Isley's attorneys told jurors that two of the singer's accountants had died during the period in question, making the tax process difficult. He denied any willful tax evasion.

BEASTIES TO RELEASE FUCKING AWESOME DOCUMENTARY

Following the release of the group's upcoming "Solid Gold Hits" CD+DVD/2LP, The Beastie Boys will release a documentary next spring entitled "Awesome: I Fuckin' Shot That", directed by Beastie Adam Yauch (aka M.C.A.). Like Jay-Z's "Fade To Black", the doc is centered around their recent sold-out Madison Square Garden performance. Uniquely, the Boys gave out 50 hand held cameras to the audience who filmed the performance. Yauch and co. will edit together the footage for the documentary.

"Awesome: I Fuckin' Shot That" has been picked up by Thinkfilm, and will be released first in theatres, followed by a DVD release in the summer.
