It’s one of our favorite questions to ask– where o’ where did the femcee go? As Apani B, Jean Grae and Bahamadia begin to fade from memory a new phoenix emerges screaming raps from the fire and her name is, Invincible. This fem-firecracker out of Detroit, Michigan has created quite a buzz in her hometown, while sharing the stage with Big D staples such as Black Milk, Buff1, Guilty Simpson and more. Now, hip hop’s latest lady readies her debut release, Shapeshifters, on September 23rd, which features guest spots from: Buff1, Finale, Wordsworth and more, as well as banging production from the hands of Black Milk, Wajeed, House Shoes and LabTechs and more!

Ge-ology is a Brooklyn, New York bred Electronica/Hip Hop producer most notably known for his work with Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Jill Scott. I recently came across his most recent collaboration with Yukimi Nagano– a tiny Japanese-American vocalist with a smooth and sultry voice who fronts the relatively unknown group, Little Dragon.

On top of his Dr. Dooom 2 project coming out September 23rd, Kool Keith has just released his new album entitled Tashan Dorrsett digitally (with the physical release due out in November). This project is a collaboration with french producer, DJ Junkaz Lou, a master of quirky electronic bangers with that perfect funky Kool Keith twist.

Kool Keith: “TASHAN DORRSETT is the reality person from New York City with an image of being real and regular, dealing with daily life situations. The essence of urban living to its all time fullest, block after block, the brick buildings, the hot sun … Areas and struggles of the ghetto I myself walked and experienced. You can’t live it through television, you have to walk out and touch it like i’ve done for years. To all the areas that many people will not visit, I will constantly.”

NINE is a compilation gathering nine of the finest Belgian producers, beat makers and nonstopbeatbuilders. The full length vinyl record (12″) was available since the 13th of December 2007 through Rush Hour and on the Citywurl’s online shop as digital release. As most physical copies of this release have been sold, they thought it was time to put this compilation online and give it you.

My beats travel like a vortex, through your spine
to the top of your cerebrum cortex
Make you feel like you bust a nut from raw sex

This album really has a piece of everybody in the band,” says songwriter and vocalist Danny “Xinxo” Rodriguez. “There wasn’t one particular person who made it all happen. It was all of us.” Joining Xinxo in TOCA are Ceschi Ramos (the band’s musical mastermind), David Ramos (drummer, vocalist), Tommy Valencia (vocalist, multi-instrumentalist), Danny Levin (horns) and Max Heath (piano). “The niche of the band is that we constantly switch up genres and styles from song to song,” Valencia explains. “We kind of just do what we want. It’s an anything goes type of mentality.” link: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nriomqmkyyl
