Immortal Technique are o piesa tare(poate cea mai reprezentativa) despre droguri:

exclusive interview with Q-Unique 4 hiphopgame.com

First off, what??€s good Q? How have you been lately?
Chillin dawg...actually, grindin' more than chillin with the album out now...but I'm happy bout that

You recently dropped a mixtape, can you talk about that?
yeah the "mixture" CD..It's got the Freestyles, the unre-leased or never to be released stuff, some old stuff, ILL BILL, Jise, Swel 79, mr. wrek, Necro, Loki, Breeze (Jugganots), J treds, MF Doom, God father Don, Mazzi, D stroy, are all featured on it..

What made you want to put out a mixtape?
I thought i could blow up like 50 cent..........................(said sarcasticaly)
nah on the real though, Non phix was takin me on the road with them, with bill already hollerin at me about a solo LP so i needed something to sell while i was on tour plus start some sorta buzz, I'm actually workin on another one, cause the response has been great for this one.

You??€ve got your album dropping now, ??€?Vengence is Mine,??€? are you happy with how it came out?
I'm real happy with how it came out, perfect time in my life, perfect sounds, perfect verses, perfect label...

This album is more aggressive than you older material, how come?
I was asked by Bill to be the real me on this album, see Bill knows me for a long time, so he knows what kinda scumbag i really am, he knows how angry i am, when we sat and talked about the direction of this album, Bill was like,"yo i already know what you did with arsonists albums, i know you can do the punchline shit and the real left field shit, now i think it's time for you to tell your fans who you are, cause your life story's fuckin unbelievable" so i sat in my hotel room in france and thought about it...at first it wasn't easy cause i was about to unleashed alot of demons, and i didn't know what the repercussions would be...but then slowly but surely it became like therapy...and after a while i felt great about it..and all my homies was co-signin'..especially when ya got cats like ill bill and eclipse co-signin...then i knew was on the right path cause i trust them cats to the fullest.

What topics do you spit about on your new album?
this album is my story, my opinions, my experiences, my thoughts...ranging from religion to politics to sex with the olson twins....child abuse, drugs, brujeria (voodoo like witch craft for latinos)..the horrors that i've been through to the achievements i've made from out of nothing..this is an album about me from the begining leading up till now...some can relate, some can imagine...altogether, they can enjoy

What??€s it like working with Ill Bill and Uncle Howie?
workin with bill is like workin with a brother..the love is there, the honesty, the arguments, the exciitement of starting and finishing up the album...like i said i trust this guy, like a brother..he played a very important role, as does rick rubin to any group he sat in with, bill was there at every session...playin the joe torre role..the world champion coach..i put my MC ego aside and allowed this cat to fine tune my work...cause at the end of the day i want the music to come out at its best..and who better than someone who i trust lyrically and musically.. I don't want no fuckin "yes men" around me, I want people who have my best intrest in their mind along with theirs..as for uncle howie...that was an incredible experience..he has to be one of the most interesting people on the fuckin planet, and i learned alot from him..and he digs what i'm doin so that means alot to me. straight up...that whole fam : ILL BILL, Necro and Uncle Howie are some of the most realest cats i've ever met...

You handle some of the production, what beats do you want to make for yourself?
I like aggressive shit that instantly punches you in the face when you hear it..I also approach spittin' on the track that way most of the time...when that drum hits..I'm off to the races

What equipment do you use?
I like this question...mpc 2000 xl, triton rack mount by korg, technique 1200 turntable, vestax 05 mixer, midi man key station 61 keys, AKG mic..and in the big studio, pro tools with my boy elliot "bling rhames" thomas

You got Necro producing on the album as well, how is it working with him?

like i said, this cat is real, he's bout his business, someone who i've wanted to work with for a long time...what's ill bout him is that he holds no punches..he'll tell like it is..and you already know the cat is sick with production and rhymin' yeah i said it..cats be tryin to front on this man...fuck 'em

What about JuJu of the Beatnuts?
workin with Ju Ju is an honor...to me he's a legend, so to be part of his resume is mind boggling..only thing is that he's elusive...on some big foot, lockness monster shit..

You said that Crazy Legs is the first to help put you on, how did you link up with Crazy Legs?
Crazy legs was the person to get me my first 2 record deals...we was in the same neighborhood...he would come to my block with his boys and shit, me and his sister went to school together..you know that kinda shit..eventually he got a hold of my demo...put me down woth RSC and the rest is history...

How did you become a member of the Rock Steady Crew?

for each individual it's different, for me , i was just a kid who lived in the same neighborhood the crazy legs lived in, i went to school with his sister, i was also a kid that was rappin in the streets, makin demos and shit, so one of our homegirls gave Legs one of my demos, he heard what he liked and put me on, i was the first member of RSC when it got revamped in 1990.

How do you feel about the Rock Steady Anniversary Show getting sent to Newark this year for the first time in 26 years?

for me, at first it felt strange, i wasn't there to actually witness the change, cause i was on the warped tour, but just hearing that it was in jersey was bugged , but then eventually, it was aight with me , cause jersey deserves some love na mean

How important is the Rock Steady Festival to Hip Hop?
to me it's one of the most important gatherings for the culture of hip hop on the planet. it has set the standards for other hip hop festivals that are like it...it's the blueprint for different hip hop celebrations across the world

Can you talk about how you got an official day for ??€?Rock Steady Crew Day???€?
well Legs and i were at this club called APT and i just came with this thought that the city needed to recognize that the RSC anniversary had brought in tourists and business for the city of NY, and with out any drama or shootings or shit like that,it was a hip hop event that lasted for years in NY and it was succesful...so i stepped to my home girl Erin who at the time worked for the mayors office and told her the idea of being recognized...i didnt actually expect a proclamation...so to me , its an incredible honor...

Do you see the Arsonists coming back together?

ask me that after at least another Q-Unique album...for me right now its really tough to say cause im enjoying where im at right now..as when i was with them and i enjoyed that mommnent.

What made you guys split up?
we grew up and our ideas and creative ways changed and differed from each other...we needed the space to be individuals...we are all very different now...and i guess that's why it's hard to say anything about a reunion, cause that was a certain time with a certain mindstate, tryig to emulate that vibe would be a challenge in itself...but i still got love for them..we are like fam
