As an affiliate of the Gang Starr Foundation, she released her critically-acclaimed debut album entitled Kollage in 1996; the album featured production by Guru and DJ Premier of Gangstarr.
Her reputation in North America has been enhanced by a number of highly regarded guest appearances on tracks by artists including Talib Kweli, The Roots, Jedi Mind Tricks and Planet Asia, and through her peripheral association with the Philadelphia hip hop collective Army of the Pharaohs.
As one of Philly's premier underground beat-makers (J-Live, Zap Mama, Bahamadia, Mr. Complex, and Pharoahe Monch), Hezekiah got his humble start singing in church and fronting his uncle's funk band. As luck would have it, in 1983 he met up with the Roots at the peak of their success and started involving himself with Philadelphia's flourishing hip-hop scene. In 2005, New York's Soul Spazm label took notice and released his debut solo album, Hurry Up & Wait..., which featured Hezekiah rapping among guests Bahamadia, Scratch, Chief Kamachi, and Grand Agent. For the following year or so he continued working behind the console, co-producing music for a Showtime series titled Street Time and creating tracks for singers Aaron Livingston and AAries, and in September 2007 he returned with his sophomore record, I Predict a Riot.
Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter Jaguar Wright's name can be added to the list of such Philly-based neo-soul talents as Grammy Award-winning rap band the Roots and multi-platinum hitmakers Jill Scott and Musiq Soulchild. After impressing Scott Storch of the Roots, she was added to the lineup of the Black Lily, an acclaimed performance showcase held at the Five Spot in Philly, and later toured with the group on the Okayplayer Tour. Wright also earned rave reviews for her background vocal stint at Jay-Z's MTV Unplugged appearance in December 2001
